If you are attracted to the idea of working from home like 16.5 million entrepreneurs are doing, do some research before you make any decisions. Yes, you can make good money working from home if you have the right personality and are doing the right kind of work in the appropriate place.

First, take an inward look at yourself. How do you like working alone day after day? I know what my answer would be --- I wouldn’t like it! I need interaction with people, not just my dog.

Do you have the self discipline to keep focused on your work? Will the fridge, TV, kids, or spouse easily detract you? I would see everything that needs to be done around the house and yard --- and do it rather than work.

Make sure you know what it takes to set up your business. Do a business plan. Know the regulations concerning your business. What are the zoning laws? Do they pertain to your business? For answers to these types of questions go to www.business.gov. On the home page, type in home based businesses in the box next to “search.” A plethora of helpful articles are available.

Blog with the numerous homepreneurs. Type in words like “work from home” and of course, “homepreneurs”.  Find out what they are experiencing.

One last point, as in anything, there can be work-at-home scams. Check with the BBB before you spend any money.

If you still have questions, contact me. Working from home can be fun and “freeing”.
