Bigger isn’t always better. In the Colorado Springs Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), 98 percent of all companies are defined as small businesses, and according to the U.S.Government Census, almost 60 percent of our area workers are employed by these companies.Join your BBB and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on Thursday, June 10th as we recognize the accomplishments of small businesses in our community. The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel - 2886 South Circle Drive in Colorado Springs from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.The day begins with a workshop sponsored by your BBB called The Dos and Don’ts of Hiring and Firing. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and facilitated by employment attorney Brenda Heinicke, Esq. and human resource specialist Todd Anderson, SPHR of Leavitt Benefit Services. During this three hour session, you’ll learn about:
The morning workshop will be followed by a half-hour of networking from 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.Next, join the SBDC for a special luncheon where awards will be given for Small Business Person of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year. The keynote speech will be given by Todd Anderson who served as a human resource consultant to the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and was responsible for hiring 27,000 volunteers.
